In the last few decades, emerging economies have grown at extraordinary rates attracting spotlights to their global competitive and comparative advantages. Additionally, technological advances are transforming the strategy and growth trajectory of organizations worldwide.
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) compose a major part of organizations responsible for growth rates in countries. Economic, social, human, and natural resources conditions shape the bright and dark side of this relation. In the same way emerging countries are highly populated and present intense market power, they are also face poor infrastructure and fiscal issues that need to be addressed. Several emerging countries have a lot to offer in terms of innovative topics to be studied by researchers all over the world. For that reason, we provide a new academic and entrepreneurial environment to discuss the challenges and opportunities for SMEs and entrepreneurs in emerging countries. India, the host country of GCSMES 2021 is a key member of BRICS, and along with other developing economies, offer researchers, practitioners and policy makers a great opportunity to convene and deliberate on issues around the opportunities and challenges facing the sector in the new millennium.
